The following information is about Nonmethane Hydrocarbons (NMHCs).

Nonmethane Hydrocarbons (NMHCs) Defined

These are hydrocarbons such as ethylene, butane, hexane, propane and, by definition, exclude the first member of that analogous series, CH4. Large quantities of NMHCs are emitted from vegetation, the vast majority as isoprene, C5H8. The natural emission of isoprene is significant compared to that of anthropogenic NMHC.
