Wind Rose Defined
A diagram that presents information about wind speed and direction for a particular area over a certain amount of time.Ý The diagram is a circle with spokes. The center is 0 and as the wind frequency increases bars extend from the center of the circle to the outside of the circle, in the direction the wind is blowing.Ý Direction can be determined by which way the bar is extending to the outside of the circle because the wind rose is set up like a compass.Ý Information for a windrose is gathered by monitoring stations throughout the area being monitored.Ý By determining wind speed, direction, and frequency with a wind rose, movement of air, and pollutants can be predicted.
